There are areas of specialist clinical practice in Dermatology which overlap with other medical or surgical disciplines. The many specialties which intersect with Dermatology include Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Plastic Surgery, GU Medicine, Immunology, Oncology, and Psychiatry. Increasingly, joint clinics and combined services are becoming the principal model for managing patients with complex multi-system disorders. Funds from the Louis Forman Foundation have been released to fund a Fellowship which provides the award-holder a six-month period of training in a specialty allied to Dermatology. The aim of the Fellowship is to extend the individual’s clinical skills beyond the curriculum limits of Dermatology training and to provide the Fellow with a springboard for future collaborative working between complementary disciplines.
